TULIPANA working visit to Brazil

Migration history and heritage is one of the focal areas of the Centre for Global Heritage and Development. The TULIPANA program is an extensive program aimed at safeguarding and making accessible of the documentary heritage of the Dutch migrants in Brazil.  Two representatives of the Centre for Global Heritage and Development will visit two Dutch colonies, Holambra and Castrolanda, in November to discuss cooperation in this field and sign an agreement. The trip has multiple purposes:

·         A meeting with the local museum in Holambra, the Cultural Centre of Castrolanda, the Dutch Association in Rio de Janeiro, the National Archives of Brazil, the State Archive of Sao Paulo and the State Archive of Parana;

·         To see the collections and to define follow up actions;

·         Signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Museum of Holambra and the Cultural Centre of Castrolanda;

·         Participate in a two day TULIPANA workshop on Arrangement, Description and Conservation;

·         Presenting the Centre of Global Heritage and Development and the TULIPANA program.

With the visit we hope to make some important steps forward towards reaching the goals of the TULIPANA program, especially increasing knowledge on Dutch migration to Brazil and to raise academic interest.

The visit will take place from November 17-27 and  is partly sponsored by DutchCulture.
