University of Turku, Chair Scientific Conference Board:

“It gives me great pleasure to invite you to Pori to participate at the Heritage, Tourism and Hospitality, International Conference 2017. The third conference in the series will have the title ‘Narratives for a World in Transition’ and take place on 27-29 September.

Many of those who participated at conferences in Istanbul (2014) and Amsterdam (2015) know that the specific feature of the Heritage, Tourism and Hospitality conferences – the fact that it is of interest to academics from a wide variety of disciplines and practitioners alike – is of great value.

2017 is a very special year for Finland: we will celebrate 100 years of independence. This makes it even more significant to study, learn and have dialog on preserving and promoting the coastal and industrial heritage specifically in Finland.

The conference will be hosted by the University of Turku, which is an active academic community of 25,000 students and staff members – a truly international research university, a provider and developer of Finnish high-quality education and a strong bellwether of its area.

As part of the conference program and during the optional pre and post tours we will visit the surrounding province of Satakunta, which is well-known for the unique and beautiful iron works areas and the buildings designed by the world famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto.

I work as a university researcher at the campus in Pori of the School of Economics at the University of Turku and have a great honor of serving you as the chair of the conference in cooperation with national and international colleagues and partners. Warmly welcome to Pori!”
