Seed money request

The LDE Program for Global Heritage and Development attaches great importance to research and dissemination of heritage research in the broadest sense, at the local, regional, and national levels. To contribute to this, the centre uses various financial instruments that stimulate collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the further development and dissemination of heritage research.

Therefore, affiliated researchers can submit one application per year for seed money (€1,500). Seed money can be requested for setting up a small pilot study, disseminating research results from a previous project, public engagement activities, creating a prototype, 3D scanning and/or printing.

Applications can also be submitted for a larger research project (€9,000).

Requirements: The application must include at least one researcher from each university as a (co-)applicant. The project proposal must clearly align with the broader objectives of the Global Heritage and Development Program.

In addition, project proposals are evaluated based on:

  • Feasibility of the project plan;
  • Innovative (research) potential of the project plan;
  • Collaboration with social partners/social relevance;
  • Sustainability of the project beyond its duration.

Upon completion of the project, a short report must be written and submitted as part of any press releases or for information purposes on the website. A clear financial and substantive justification of the activities carried out and the outcomes must be provided.

In addition, the LDE deans must co-sign the project proposal.

Applications must be submitted no later than May 1, 2026. Please note that the entire budget must be spent by December 31, 2026. Please take this into account when submitting your application.

Your application will be assessed by a panel of three LDE scientists:

  • Prof.dr. Amanda Brandellero, Erasmus University Rotterdam
  • Prof.dr. Fanny Wonu Veys, Leiden University
  • Prof.dr. Joris Dik, Delft University of Technology
