Marion van Westen

Job title
Scientific Communications Intern

Throughout my Archaeology bachelor study I have always been interested in the valorisation of data and research methods in the field, the lab and the discussion panels. Accordingly, I wrote my thesis about an Osteobiography in the context of a museum object visualising a young woman and immigrant. While writing I discovered that storytelling is one of the aspects of archaeological science and heritage studies that I am fascinated by and that I would like to illustrate and visualise for people in- and outside of the scientific community.

Being part of the communication team will enable me to do this and to learn more about the network of collaboration that makes the multidisciplinary research possible.

This internship represents the final stage of my study during a strange time of social distancing. Nevertheless I hope to bring people and ideas together and explore new ways to do so.
