The Centre for Global Heritage and Development aims to use its interdisciplinary and inter-university status to go beyond the more traditional study of heritage, by actively focusing on how heritage relates to cultural, social and environmental developments. The primary focus will be on the role of the past in the present - with the future in mind.

Heritage studies in the 21st century call for a new approach, a partnership between archaeology, the social sciences, the humanities, the technical and natural sciences and the design disciplines. To achieve this goal, the Centre combines academic research programs with applied research.

In each of our programmes, a group of researchers tackle current research problems that define the field from different disciplinary angles. All  programmes should have a truly interdisciplinary approach.
